63 : Your Human Design Blueprint: How to Stop Second-Guessing Every Decision
💫Episode 63 : Your Human Design Blueprint: How to Stop Second-Guessing Every Decision
"What if the reason you feel stuck, exhausted, or like you're living someone else's life isn't weakness or indecision — it's that nobody has ever handed you the right map for your soul?"
That question is the heart of Episode 63 of Collective Guidance, and it might just be the most liberating thing you hear all year.
Host Charla Goodnight sits down with Erin Claire Jones — one of the world's leading experts in Human Design, author of the Amazon best book of 2025 How Do You Choose, and the woman behind personalized Human Design blueprints that have been purchased by customers in over 160 countries. Her work has been featured in Forbes, Vogue, Allure, The Sunday Times, and more. But what makes Erin truly special is where she started — as a skeptic who almost walked right past Human Design at a party, until something in her body said: stay.
What Is Human Design — And What Is It Not?
Human Design is a system based on your time, date, and place of birth that reveals how you are uniquely wired to operate — in work, relationships, decision-making, and life. Think of it as a personalized blueprint for your soul.
But Erin is quick to clarify what it is not:
It is not predictive — it won't tell you who you'll marry or what career you'll have. It is not limiting — it doesn't tell you what you can't do, only how you can do what you choose most effectively. And it is not something to memorize — it's meant to be experimented with, embodied, and lived.
As Erin puts it: "What matters most to me is not whether it's true, but whether it's useful." And for hundreds of thousands of people who have worked with her, the answer is a resounding yes.

The Five Human Design Types — Find Yourself Here
The most important thing to identify first is your type. Here's a quick portrait of each:
Projectors (including both Charla and Erin) are natural leaders, guides, teachers, and advisors — often found in coaching, therapy, and podcasting. Their energy is not consistent; they need rest built into their days. They are meant to be invited into opportunities rather than chasing them, and they thrive when they feel genuinely seen and recognized.
Generators are the builders and doers of the world — infectious, energetic, and charismatic when lit up by what they're doing. Their key lesson: prioritize what genuinely satisfies you, because your lit-up energy gives everyone around you a boost too.
Manifesting Generators share the Generator's abundant energy but tend to be non-linear, multi-passionate, and fast-moving. They're often told they're scattered — but they need that variety to feel fully alive.
Manifestors are here to initiate. Their gift is bringing bold new ideas to life, disrupting the status quo, and paving entirely new paths. They crave freedom and are meant to make the first move when the urge strikes.
Reflectors are the rarest type — just 1% of the population. These are deeply perceptive, fluid people who can sense and feel things most people miss. They tend to express themselves differently across seasons and environments, and they do best when given time and space before making major decisions.
The Most Important Question: How Do You Make Decisions?
Erin's book is called How Do You Choose for a reason — and it's the piece of Human Design she considers most transformational.
Your inner authority is your unique decision-making intelligence. It's the deeper knowing beneath the noise of logic, other people's opinions, and fear. And it's different for every person.
Charla, for example, has Splenic Authority — the fastest, most spontaneous of all authorities. Her truth arrives as a quiet whisper in the moment, and if she doesn't act on it immediately, it fades. Her work is to get quiet enough to hear herself, and then brave enough to act on what she hears without waiting for confirmation from the outside world.
Erin, by contrast, has Emotional Authority — she is literally meant to sleep on decisions, feel into them over days, and wait until the emotional wave settles before choosing. What looks like waffling from the outside is simply her process of finding clarity.
Neither is right or wrong. They're just different — and knowing the difference is everything.
What Human Design Reveals in Relationships
One of the most powerful applications of Human Design is in understanding the people closest to us — partners, children, colleagues, and friends.
Erin shares a beautiful example from her own marriage: she and her husband have opposite decision-making styles. When choosing a holiday Airbnb, he spotted a listing with zero reviews and said book it immediately — and she, the emotional authority, nearly talked him out of it. They booked it. It was magnificent. And it eventually inspired them to move to the Hudson Valley.
The most common wound Human Design helps heal in relationships? Making each other wrong for being who they are. When one partner takes time and the other decides instantly, it can look like waffling, or like impulsiveness, or like not caring. Human Design reveals: it's just different wiring.
Erin also has five different Human Design types represented in her own family of four — and she parents each child not by trying to make them versions of herself, but by staying curious about who they already are.
Why You're Exhausted — A Message for Each Type
For the woman who isn't just tired from bad sleep, but tired in her soul — Erin has something to say to each type:
Projectors: You burn out when your days are back-to-back with no rest and no space to be seen. Ask yourself: where do you feel most deeply recognized? Pour energy there.
Generators & Manifesting Generators: You exhaust yourself doing things you think you should do rather than things that actually light you up. Create a pocket in your day for something that genuinely satisfies you — and watch it fuel everything else.
Manifestors: You need uninterrupted time alone. If you're not giving yourself that, your creativity and energy dry up. Protect your solitude fiercely.
Reflectors: You absorb the energy of everyone around you. Evaluate the spaces you're spending the most time in — are they depleting or energizing? Plant yourself where you feel inspired.
Human Design Is Not an Excuse — It's an Invitation to Be Brave
Charla asks the question many people wonder about: can Human Design become a way to avoid accountability? To use your type as an excuse not to do the hard things?
Erin's answer is direct and refreshing: yes, it can — and we shouldn't let it.
Projectors still have to show up and be seen, even when it's uncomfortable. Generators still have to take out the trash. Manifestors still have to follow through. Human Design gives you permission to stop performing a life that doesn't fit — but it doesn't give you permission to stop being brave.
"If you were being brave, is this what you would do?" That's the question Erin comes back to — and it cuts through every excuse.
The Biggest Takeaway
Human Design is not about telling you who you are supposed to be. It's about returning you to who you already are.
There is no one right way to live, work, love, or decide. There is only your way. And the more you understand your own blueprint — and honor it — the more your life begins to feel like yours.
"Where in your life are you trying to do it the right way — but that right way isn't actually feeling good to you?"
That's the question worth sitting with.
