76 : You're Not Broken — You're Carrying Your Ancestors' Unfinished Stories
💫Episode 76 : You're Not Broken — You're Carrying Your Ancestors' Unfinished Stories
"When we incarnate into this current timeline, we come in with muscles. We come in with all that we learned before. And the vessel has been evolving and preparing itself ancestrally for you to enter it."
That reframe — from the idea that we start at zero each lifetime to the understanding that we arrive already equipped — is the energy that pulses through every minute of this extraordinary conversation.
In Episode 76 of Collective Guidance, host Charla Goodnight sits down with Horus Porras — spiritual teacher, ceremonialist, sound healer, multi-disciplinary artist, and founder of The House of Horus, a platform blending ancestral knowledge, ritual, and creative activation to support personal and collective transformation. His work weaves Egyptian cosmology, the Akashic records, sound, and movement through ceremonial space and one-on-one mentorship, guiding people through periods of deep growth and soul reconnection.
This is one of those conversations that teaches you as it moves through you.
You Came In With Muscles
Before the spiritual awakening, before the mystery schools and Akashic records readings and Egyptian cosmology — there was a young man who went viral on YouTube in 2010, who wore wigs and did comedy sketches and felt, for the first time, that he had something special. And then got shamed for it. And dimmed his light for the next 10 years.
Horus's story is not just a spiritual journey. It's a story about what happens when the world tells you to be small, and what it takes to remember who you were before it did.
Coming out as queer. Navigating religious shame. Deprogramming from family expectations, cultural conditioning, and media's narrow definitions of who you're allowed to be. And then, in 2020, when the pandemic stopped the world — finally having the space to ask: what do I actually want to explore?
What followed was an immersion into herbalism, kundalini yoga, channeling, energy work, the gateway tapes, astral projection, star lineages — and eventually, an attuning to the Akashic records that would change everything. Including his name.
"Queer people are shape-shifters. We come from a phoenix rising from the ashes moment. Joy and fun is an act of resistance — because it says no one is going to push me down and make me feel less than."
Horus's journey from Jorge Porras (the third in his family to carry that name) to Horus is its own teaching. He held the name privately for almost two years — only his mystery school friends called him Horus — until he felt certain. Then he came out again. And like any kind of becoming, some people didn't like it. He did it anyway.
What Are the Akashic Records — Really?
Here's where Horus offers something most people haven't heard before, and it's worth pausing on:
The Akashic records are not somewhere outside of you. They are within you.
Within your blood. Within your DNA. Within your spine — which he describes not merely as a physical structure, but as an ancient railway carrying the information of your entire ancestral line. The kundalini energy that rises up the spine is moving through that accumulated wisdom. The Akashic records aren't a library somewhere in the ethers. They are you, more deeply understood.
His approach to reading the records is co-creative: he asks for a person's name, birthdate, and birth time — similar to an astrology reading — and then works multidimensionally to see not just this life, but the connected thread across lifetimes. The first 30 minutes gather the pieces of the puzzle. The next 30 weave them into a coherent story.
"You incarnated here, then went here, then met this person, then received this gift — for this grander mission your soul is on. Everything from a bird's eye view, all the lives connected, not separately."
What you're experiencing right now — the contrast, the uncomfortable patterns, the relationships that keep finding you — these are not random. They are often echoes of unresolved stories from previous incarnations, showing up again not to punish you, but to be completed.
Ancestral Healing: You Are the Heir
Living on a 220-acre farm during the pandemic — run by a 78-year-old Chinese woman whose vitality and strength were legendary — Horus learned something that has shaped all of his work since:
As an heir of your ancestral line, you inherit both the gifts and the unfinished business.
The recurring relationship dynamic that makes no sense. The pattern that shows up across every job, every friendship, every intimate partnership. The inexplicable attraction to a certain kind of person or situation. These are often not just your patterns — they are your ancestors' stories, asking to be tended to, nourished, and completed through you.
World leaders fighting ancient tribal battles. Mixed lineages at war within a single body. Mother line and father line in conflict. Horus sees all of it through the lens of ancestral inheritance — and his invitation is not to carry the burden of those stories, but to recognize yourself as the one who has the antidote. The heir who can bring Ma'at — Egyptian cosmic law, truth, and balance — to what has been unresolved for generations.
Egyptian Cosmology: The First Chapter
For Horus, Egypt — and Africa — represent the first chapter of recorded human history. Egyptian cosmology is not a religion or a separate spiritual system. It is a map of the cosmos, told through 64 Neteru (cosmic forces) arranged in eight families, each representing a different aspect of existence: air, the primordials, the Duat (underworld), and more.
The Neteru — Thoth, Horus, Osiris, Isis, Ra — are not simply deities or human figures. Horus sees them as cosmic forces, immensely larger than any personification. Like angels, we give them faces because we're trying to understand what is almost too vast to hold. But the invitation is to come into relationship with these forces as aspects of yourself — because as within, so without.
Most relevant for this moment: the Duat. The Duat is the Egyptian underworld — the place the soul travels through after death, encountering trials and battles, being cleaned and refined. Horus sees the collective as currently moving through the Duat. The difficult things happening in the world, the initiations, the darkness that keeps surfacing — all of it is the soul being asked: what tools do you have? And if you don't have them, what's within you that can help?
The soul enters the Duat as lead. It exits as gold.
"Gold is related to the heart and to the sun. We are in an alchemical process right now, individually and collectively."
The Spin Technique — A Practice for Clearing and Manifesting
Horus shares a practical energetic technique that anyone can use: the spin technique.
Here's how it works:
To manifest or energize something: Bring your intention clearly to mind. Ask mentally: what is the spin related to this intention? You may feel a buzzing or a spinning sensation. Once it arrives, say: I want to accelerate this spin maximally. Feel it intensify. Then say: I want to set it permanently. Release it. Let it lock in and spin out into the field without micromanaging the outcome.
To clear something: Ground your feet on the floor. Anchor into your soul blueprint. Then spin out — counterclockwise — the pattern, cord, or energy you are releasing. Once cleared, consciously bring in the energetics you want to replace it with. Restoration follows release.
This is similar to working with sigils: the ritual, the intention, the activation — and then the release. The divine does the rest.
The Pyramids as the Original Internet
In one of the most mind-expanding moments of the conversation, Horus shares his belief about the pyramids of Egypt:
They were super computers. The original internet.
A satellite for communicating with different star systems and cosmic forces. The gold tip at the apex of each pyramid receiving and transmitting stellar light, lunar light, solar light — coded information from different constellations — and sending it back out into the world. A technology for interfacing with the divine that we are only beginning to comprehend again.
The Akashic records, in this framework, are not just a personal library. They are part of a vast, interconnected web of cosmic information — and your spine, your DNA, your own body is both the receiver and the transmitter.
Joy as Resistance — And the Permission to Shine
The thread that runs beneath everything in this conversation is the one Horus lives in his own body every day: shining your light is an act of resistance.
To be fully yourself — in your queerness, your spirituality, your creativity, your name, your gifts — is to refuse the systems that want you small. And when you refuse that smallness, you create permission for everyone around you to do the same.
"Joy and fun is an act of resistance. When you're able to just have joy and fun, you're saying: no one is going to push me down and make me feel less than."
This is collective guidance. Not as a concept — as a lived, embodied, radiating truth.
